Happy 2011!

And... we're back.

What is it about the holidays that make me want to be ultra-lazy for the rest of the winter? Maybe it has something to do with the ridiculous amount of junk food I consume in a one-month period (after all, it's the only time of the year I allow myself to truly pig out). Or perhaps it's the fact that two weeks off of work makes me realize how many other fun things there are to do in this world. Whatever the case, I'm just now getting around to taking down my Christmas stuff and putting up the clothes I washed last weekend... oops.

I'm not usually this bad. I promise.

I think part of my lingering laziness is due to our extreme sports outings in Colorado only two weeks ago. Okay, so they weren't that extreme seeing as I barely went 25 mph on the snowmobile and skied on the bunny slopes the whole time. I think I spent more time falling down than actually skiing, but hey, I was a newbie. Nevertheless, running around in the 10 degree weather all day with half of my normal oxygen totally kicked my rear! And here I thought I was in the good shape...

Nevertheless, I'm glad to have gone and tried new things and would totally go back in a heartbeat... partially for the fun, and partially because I got to wake up feeling like I was in a snow globe every morning.

I don't think it gets much prettier than that. :-) We definitely had our setbacks while we were there, but I am SO thankful that we had the opportunity to go enjoy God's amazing creation this Christmas, and even more thankful for our wonderful family that we got to see! It was the perfect ending to an already amazing 2010.

Of course as one year ends, a new one must begin! I'm really excited about all that 2011 has in store...

Eric will be starting to do rounds in a couple of months.

I get to work, work, work (okay, not super-exciting, but I am so thankful to have a job!).

I'm hoping to run at least 650 miles and enter in 2 5Ks this year... that's my goal, anyway!

Hopefully we can take a trip to somewhere cool this summer... I'm thinking Niagara Falls or the Bahamas?

And of course I'm hoping to test out even more fabulous new recipes. In fact, I have some creme brulee in the oven as I post. :-) I'll let you know how that turns out!

The new year is always one of my favorite times - a time to reflect, to set new goals, and most of all, to celebrate all that I've been blessed with.

So happy 2011 - may it be our best year yet!
